How to unlock Passimian

There is no direct purchase for Passimian. It appears on the Alola banner inside the 3★ pool. The 3★ band takes 17% of all pulls and holds 248 partners, so one specific Passimian works out to about 0.0685% per draw. The 70-pull pity counter only applies to 5★ results, so Passimian has no floor of its own and no targeted pull. A duplicate Passimian refunds 60 coins at the 3★ rate.

Passimian stats and rank

The sheet lists Passimian at 115 HP, 112 speed, ×1.36 attack, ×1.36 physical and ×0.92 special, with 90 defense and 60 special defense — 490 base-stat total. On the three-stat percentile this is 78.0 out of 100, which puts Passimian at rank 100 of 966 and in tier A. Relative standing explains more than the total here: its strongest slot is physical multiplier (89th percentile) and its weakest is special multiplier (13th percentile), so it is a specialist rather than an all-rounder.

Best moves in Passimian's pool

At move level 5 the pool is led by Karate Chop at 46.2 damage per 0.38s (167.6 effective DPS, ×1.36 multiplier), then Body Slam at 75.6 damage per 0.71s (144.3 effective DPS, ×1.36 multiplier), then Tackle at 33.6 damage per 0.38s (121.9 effective DPS, ×1.36 multiplier). 8 of its 12 damaging moves scale with the physical multiplier and 4 with the special one, alongside 4 support moves. Its physical multiplier is the higher of the two (×1.36 against ×0.92), so physical moves convert better. The top option beats the second by 23.2 DPS, which decides slot one and leaves slot two as a judgement call.

Evolution cards for Passimian

Its starting move, Karate Chop, evolves into Close Combat once the move is at level 5 and you hold the Power card, which boosts attack for that run. That card has to drop inside the run; nothing in the permanent menu replaces it. 12 of its 16 moves carry an evolution card, across 5 distinct cards (Vigor, Sprint, Power, Reflexes and Armor). The strongest of them is Karate Chop at 167.6 effective DPS, so that is the one worth holding a card for first.

Passimian compared to similar partners

The two closest stat lines in the roster are Drednaw (-5 HP, -3 speed, -0.03 attack, -5 total) and Rillaboom (+0 HP, +2 speed, +0.03 attack, +40 total). Against Drednaw, Passimian is 3 speed faster and Passimian hits harder by ×0.03, and the rank gap is 58 places. Treat the gaps as the price of the switch rather than free stats, so neither side is a strict upgrade and the move pools have to break the tie.
