How to unlock Iron Valiant

There is no direct purchase for Iron Valiant. It appears on the Paldea banner inside the 5★ pool. The 5★ band takes 1.5% of all pulls and holds 103 partners, so one specific Iron Valiant works out to about 0.0146% per draw. The 70-pull pity counter guarantees a 5★, but it does not target Iron Valiant specifically, so a guarantee can still resolve to another 5★. A duplicate Iron Valiant refunds 300 coins at the 5★ rate.

Iron Valiant stats and rank

The sheet lists Iron Valiant at 103 HP, 127 speed, ×1.42 attack, ×1.42 physical and ×1.36 special, with 90 defense and 60 special defense — 590 base-stat total. On the three-stat percentile this is 82.3 out of 100, which puts Iron Valiant at rank 58 of 966 and in tier S. Relative standing explains more than the total here: its strongest slot is speed (95th percentile) and its weakest is special defense (37th percentile), so it is a specialist rather than an all-rounder.

Best moves in Iron Valiant's pool

At move level 5 the pool is led by Karate Chop at 46.2 damage per 0.38s (174.9 effective DPS, ×1.42 multiplier), then Play Rough at 54.6 damage per 0.45s (172.3 effective DPS, ×1.42 multiplier), then Body Slam at 75.6 damage per 0.71s (150.7 effective DPS, ×1.42 multiplier). 9 of its 17 damaging moves scale with the physical multiplier and 8 with the special one, alongside 4 support moves. Its physical multiplier is the higher of the two (×1.42 against ×1.36), so physical moves convert better. The top option beats the second by 2.7 DPS, which decides slot one and leaves slot two as a judgement call.

Evolution cards for Iron Valiant

Its starting move, Fairy Wind, evolves into Moonblast once the move is at level 5 and you hold the Power card, which boosts attack for that run. That card has to drop inside the run; nothing in the permanent menu replaces it. 17 of its 21 moves carry an evolution card, across 6 distinct cards (Vigor, Sprint, Power, Reflexes, Armor and Synthesis). The strongest of them is Karate Chop at 174.9 effective DPS, so that is the one worth holding a card for first.

Iron Valiant compared to similar partners

The two closest stat lines in the roster are Azelf (+1 HP, -1 speed, -0.03 attack, -10 total) and Archeops (+1 HP, -3 speed, +0.05 attack, -23 total). Against Azelf, Iron Valiant is 1 speed faster and Iron Valiant hits harder by ×0.03, and the rank gap is 11 places. Treat the gaps as the price of the switch rather than free stats, so neither side is a strict upgrade and the move pools have to break the tie.
